Henry Ford, arguably one of the most important people of his time following the 1900's. Ford was born on July 30, 1863 and died April 7, 1947. As a child, Ford attended a one-room school for 8 years, then at 16 he ventured out to Detroit to try and work in some of the factories there. When he wasn't trying to find work or attend school Ford was working on his father's farm and helping him out
Detroit was the first time Henry saw motors and engines used in factories. After he worked in Detroit for a little bit he headed home again. While at home he worked part-time for the Westinghouse Engine Company and when he ad spare time worked in a machine shop he set up. At home is when he made his first invention or idea. He made a farm locomotive, an early form of a tractor. He used an old mowing machine and a homemade steam engine

Most of his early life he was moving back and forth from Detroit and back to his hometown. Skipping forward a couple of years to 1893, Ford's only child is born and a month later he is made Chief engineer at the main Detroit Edison Company plant. It was here that he was compiling his ideas for engine machines and only 3 years later he invented his first horseless carriage. It was known as the "Quadricycle" because the chassis was a buggy frame and it was held up by 4 bicycle wheels.
There were a couple of inventors before Ford and they were all different but they all held onto their creations, Henry was the only one that attempted to sell his creations. He sold his first version so he could have money to start working on his second and third automobiles.

During Ford's next 7 years of creating he had various backers and some of his backers created the Detroit Automobile Company, which would be later known as the Henry Ford Company. Later on some of his backers left him because they wanted to work on passenger cars and Ford still wanted to improve what ever model he was working on.
In 1902, Ford left the Henry Ford Company, which reorganized as the Cadillac Motor Car Company. The next year Ford felt ready to market his automobiles. The Ford Motor Company was created and was only backed with $28,000. From the first week of the shop opening it was very successful. But was threatened to be put out of business because they weren't a licensed manufacturer.

The Ford Motor Company ran into issues with big corporations and they brought it to court. It took 6 total years for both companies to gather information. Ford had lost the original case in 1909, he appealed and won the case in 1911. Fighting large corporations made Ford a hero.
The birth of the Model T in October 1908 was huge. In the 19 years that it existed Ford had sold over 15,000,000 to the United States, he even sold 1,000,000 in Canada and 250,000 in the UK. The total amount of the cars Ford has sold alone amounted up to half of the auto output of the world.
