The Ancient Egyptians thought of using papyrus plants to make paper as they were grown widely along the Nile river. The process of making paper out of papyrus was long and difficult.

The produced paper was smooth, light and easy to write on. The paper was used to make books, tables, blankets, baskets and clothes.

It was expensive, only rich people used it. The ancient Egyptians shipped papyrus paper to Europe.
