BİRSEN KONAT, CHAPTER 1

Elif brushed her teeth before going to bed that night. She wished "good night" to her parents and went to the room.She fell into a deep sleep,taking her favorite toy puppet with her. In her dream, she heard her toy calling to her: Elif ... Elif ... would you like to learn the symbols? “Symbols? What are they? She asked the toy puppet. Puppet: “Then let's go on a journey together. Where do you want to go first?” Elif loves her school so much,that’s why   she said, "To the school."

SERAP TAŞ,  CHAPTER 2

Elif came to school with her puppet, PITIRCIK. She introduced PITIRCIK to her teacher and friends. Elif said that they had come there to learn the meanings of symbols and there were lots of symbols around. Naz and other students wondered the symbols. The teacher liked this idea very much. The teacher said; "Let's PITIRCIK tell us the symbols at school and let's listen all together." Pıtırcık started to introduce the symbols of recycling. She explained that dead batteries, paper, plastic and glass wastes aren't garbage and could be thrown those recycle bins.

     SERAP TAŞ, CHAPTER 2

She added that they could be reused by recycling and also overusing and pollution could be prevented like that. PITIRCIK showed the fire symbol at school. She said that they could push the button and go out safely by following the exit symbol in case of fire. PITIRCIK showed the the symbols on toilet doors. She said that they were seperated as male and female, so everbody should use them by looking at these symbols. Pıtırcık added there were  many other symbols they could learn at school.

Just then, Zeynep Duru joined the conversation.She excitedly said; "Yes, yes! I know it too, PITIRCIK. There are also numbers, shapes, music symbols." 

PITIRCIK said,"Well done, Zeynep Duru" and continued to introduce the symbols. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9  and 0 are the number symbols that we use in our math activities.We even use many symbols when we are working with number symbols."Zeynep Duru said,"Do you know, PITIRCIK. I love to play hopscotch with number symbols." PITIRCIK smiled and said,"Yes, Zeynep Duru.Children love to play games with number symbols and also to draw pictures."

PITIRCIK's eye was suddenly caught in the shape symbols hanging on the wall.She said that "Here, some of the symbols we learn at school are shape symbols. A round circle, a square with four sides, a triangle with three corners, a rectangle with two long sides and two short sides.There are so many things that look like these shape symbols around us."At that time,Elif started singing the song of "Shapes".  PITIRCIK said,"Ohh! Elif, you are singing. How beautiful it is. You know that , we use many symbols in our musical activities, such as the treble clef and musical notes.When these symbols come together, beautiful music comes out."Just then, their teachers said it was time to go home.

TUĞÇE ÖĞRETEN, CHAPTER 4

Elif and PITIRCIK made their way home. Elif's stomach was very hungry. They came home, washed their hands and changed their clothes. Elif immediately rushed to the kitchen to her mother. Her mother was cooking. What is this? she thought. There were symbols on the food packages. She smiled. "Symbols are everywhere, Elif. Let's take a look at the symbols on food packages. Symbols give information about those foods. We should stay away from those that are not suitable for us." said PITIRCIK.

TUĞÇE ÖĞRETEN,CHAPTER 4

After dinner, Elif said to her mother, “Health in your hands, mother,”and got up from the table.Turning towards the TV, “come on PITIRCIK, and watch some TV. A very good movie begins, " she said. She immediately came to Elif. "First we have to make sure that it suits us.Let's look at the Smart sign.We'll know from there if it suits us,”she said.Elif looked at the symbols that appeared at the beginning of the film. She is over 13 and has seen symbols of violent fear come out. PITIRCIK “This is not proper. Let's change it and find ourselves a suitable movie,”she said,

and they changed the channel. They opened a channel suitable for children, saw the symbol for the general audience. They started watching.After watching a little, they saw a warning symbol at the bottom of the screen. Elif looked to understand what this symbol said. She smiled and said to her friend, “it's time for our sleep, Elif.  “Sleep Well kids”symbol appears on the screen at this hour to give us kids the habit of going to bed early,”she said.They went to their room and fell asleep thinking that tomorrow would be a great day

Elif woke up with her mother calling "Breakfast is ready". PITIRCIK was already awake and  it was waiting for Elif. Elif was very excited that today is the park day, she finished her breakfast and got ready to go to the park, they heard loud noises when they got out and soon realized that these sounds were coming from the construction area on the street corner. The symbol hanging on the construction site caught Elif's attention. PITIRCIK said, “This symbol indicates that entering the construction area is dangerous and forbidden. Elif smiled; symbols were really everywhere and made our lives easier. 

ESRA KILINÇ, CHAPTER 6

When they come to the park,Elif would take a shortcut to reach the swings as soon as possible.PITIRCIK:”Elif wait! There is a symbol here and it says that stepping on the grass is forbidden."Elif said:"Thank you for your warning, Pıtırcık. "I hadn't noticed this symbol before."After playing on the swing for a while,Elif went next to her mother and realized that a child next to them was about to throw the chocolate package on the floor.He was her friend Alper.Elif said"Alper, do you see the symbol here?This symbol tells us that littering is forbidden.How about throwing it in to the trash?He immediately threw the chocolate package in the trash and thanked Elif.
