THE CASTELLERS
Sant Joan
Sant Joan

During Christmas we are in family and celebrate Caga tio on the 24th of December. Caga Tió is a log and we hit it with sticks while we sing “Poop log, hazelnuts and nougat, don't poo sardines, those are salty. Poo nougat which is much better. Poop log, almonds and nougat, if you don't poo I will hit you with a stick!". And the presents appear.
"CAGA TIÓ"
Poop log, almonds and nougat, if you don't poo I will hit you with a stick!". And the presents appear. Parents will secretly hide presents under the blanket on Christmas.
PA AMB TOMÀQUET
It consists of toasted Catalan bread with garlic (optional) and lightly coated with the flesh of fresh tomatoes. The final touch is always a drizzle of olive oil and a pinch of sea salt on top. Usually, it is eaten as an accompaniment to a meal or, more commonly, as a base to sample the traditional cured meats. However, it is so delicious that it can even be a starter in itself.
Canelons is a typical dish of the Catalan cuisine and traditionally consumed on Saint Stephen's Day. It is also a cylindrical type of lasagna generally served baked with a filling and covered by a sauce in Italian cuisine, aka bechamel sauce. Popular stuffings include spinach and ricotta or minced beef. The canelons are then typically covered with tomato sauce.

ELS CORREFOCS
Correfocs are a rare tradition in Barcelona. The origin of Correfocs dates back to the 12th century, but during the Franco dictatorship it was banned. Today it has evolved and has become a public celebration recognized throughout Catalonia. You will see people dressed as devils and demons running with fireworks, dancing to music, or occasionally swallowing fires.

CATALAN CREAM
It is a very typical dessert of Catalan cuisine and European cuisine in general and consists of a pastry cream based on egg yolk that is usually covered with a layer of caramelized sugar on its surface to provide a crunchy contrast. It is eaten throughout the year but it is typical on Saint Joseph's Day, celebrated on March 19th. Until recently, it was generally a holiday dessert. It is made with milk and sugar
SANT JORDI
We celebrate it by giving a rose to the woman you love and a man usually receives a book.
It is a day that is celebrated in Catalonia, to remember like history that there is also a book of Sant Jordi.

A vegetarian delight: Smokey grilled veg (red peppers and eggplant) served with olive oil as a hot or cold dish. Some variations can include tomatoes, onions and garlic. Anchovies can also be added so if you are a vegetarian be sure this is not the case.
ESCALIVADA
Festa Major
A major festival is the most important festival in each neighbourhood, town, village or city. In this party we make meals, dances and songs. The Catalan festivals have been celebrated since at least the 13th century and have different activities. There are a number of distinctive features of their own, such as the parades of giants, bigheads and popular cattle, the Castellers and the Sardana dances.
