The ninth step: Poland by Izabela Wolarczak
The region - Greather Poland
Wielkopolska - "this is where Poland began" one could say and it would probably not be a particular exaggeration. It was here that the development of our statehood from the times of the Piasts concentrated. Finally, it was here that the struggle for national identity under the partitions manifested most strongly.
The largest city in Greater Poland is Poznań. It is here that we will eat the famous St. Martin croissants, and at noon we will see billy goats on the town hall tower. Wielkopolska is a beautiful palace, manors, wild nature and delicious cuisine. When you are in Wielkopolska, you must try "pyra z gzikiem" cheese changers.
