Dedicated to my amazing second grade class!!

Calvin the Cow woke up early in the morning with a burst of energy. He wanted to go on an adventure! Calvin decided to go talk his buddies, Gary the Goat, Piper the Pig, Shawn the Sheep, and Charlie the Chicken.  

Calvin the Cow said "Hey guys, I think we should go on an adventure outside of the fence for the day, and head back before dinner."

"That would be super fun, oink,  but would it be safe? Farmer Joe would not know where we are, oink." Piper the Pig said concerningly 

"I think that it will beeee fun!" said Gary the Goat. "It is only for a day" Shawn the sheep said excitedly. "I think I will stay back. I think that we will get caught." Charlie the Chicken said firmly.

The farm animals all decided that they were going to go outside the fence and start their adventure, except for Charlie the Chicken, who decided to stay in the barn.

"This is so exciting!" said Shawn the Sheep. The animals had now left the fenced area and were heading to the open field. They then decided that they would play around and role in the field.

As they were rolling they came across a large forest. The animals got curious and decided to keep going further past the fence.

The animals had drifted into the forest. The sun started to hide behind the trees, and it began to get really dark in the forest.  Piper the Pig got nervous, Shawn the Sheep started to shiver, Gary the Goat started to whine, and Calvin the Cow started moo for help.

Meanwhile, at the farm, Charlie the Chicken was getting worried about all of his friends, and how they have not made it back to the farm yet. "What am I going to cock-a-doodle-do?" cooed Charlie the Chicken. "I guess I will just have to keep a watch out for them."

Shawn the Sheep started to get very nervous, so he said "Guys, I think we need to head back. It is getting scary out here." "I agree Shawn. We need to head back to the farm," said Gary, Piper, and Calvin.

The animals knew that they had gotten a little lost. They then decided to huddle up and figure out a plan to head back to the farm. Though the animals are friends, they all have different ideas of how to get back, so they started arguing about what the best plan would be to get back to the farm.
