two companies agreed to make a railroad across the United States.

The companies were called Union Pacific and Central

Pacific Railroad company.

The Union Pacific railroad is still a company today!

The railroad helped a lot of people and let them make a lot of money.

People really liked it because you didn't have to spend as much money to travel!
