
Julius Verne (born 8 February 1828 in Nantes, died 24 March 1905 in Amiens) - French writer, playwright and social activist. Widely regarded as one of the prototypes of science fiction (together with Hugo Gernsback and H.G. Wells), author of several dozen novels.
Knight since 1870 and Officer of the Order of the Legion of Honour since 1892[1].
He wrote travel and science-fiction novels, as well as historical, geographical and detective novels, and also plays and poems.
