Hi! My name is Sunny and I am a Sunflower. Well not just yet, I am still a little seed, but when I grow up I am going to be a tall sunflower.
All flowers start off as seeds and all seeds look different. Some seeds are big and round. While others are long and skinny. All my sunflower friends look just like me
In the Spring I get planted in my new home in the ground. When I am here my roots will start to grow. Roots are white and absorb water and nutrients to help me grow up strong.
With water, such as rain and sunlight I will grow into a seedling. This is a plant that comes from the seed. It is still close to the ground and close to my roots.
After ten days I will start growing taller and grow leaves. When my leaves grow I will start looking for more sunlight. Sunflowers have to face the sun or they will start to wilt.
After thirty-five days I grow more leaves and I will grow taller too. When I am taller a bud will grow. This means I will start growing my petals soon.
When I grow a bud I need a lot of water. When I am watered my bud will start to bloom. Bloom means to open up and become a flower.
