Whether it's Adidas, Converse, KDs or Nikes
The right kind of shoes can inspire simplicity,
Or ignite the extraordinary!...
But for me--Langston LaMont Longfellow--I have no shoes to wear.
One of my legs has a rod in the heel,
a feeling so unreal
that shoes...have no whip-appeal.
I dream of slipping out from the library,
running "rod free" on a shopping spree
to get me a pair of low-dunk, red and white Nikes.
So if you see something that look like these...
GRAB THEM,
TAG THEM,
BRING THEM TO ME.
WHATEVER YOU DO,
DON'T CATCH A FELONY!
In the meantime,
I have to conclude our story-time.
Your librarian, Ms. D,
is giving away a pair of Nikes for free.
To win 10 raffle tickets for entry,
You have to ace a quiz about cultural identity.
Earn bonus entries by being caught reading, before school or during lunch by Ms. D.
Once a week, during February, Ms. D will walk through the cafeteria to see who's reading.
Every student silently reading will get a purple raffle ticket for the Black History Month Sneaker Surprise!
