Hello! I'm Franz Joseph Haydn. I am a great composer of the Classical era. Even though I am a great man today I was not always so great.

The year was 1740 and I was 8 years old. I had great musical talent but I also worked very hard as a choir boy at St. Stephen's church in Vienna, Austria.

However, when I was not working I could be very naughty and I got into trouble a lot.

One day as I was walking through the city I saw a ladder resting against the palace wall.

So up I went!

While I was playing on the wall I was spotted by none other than Empress Maria Theresa of Austria.

The Empress ordered that I be punished for being so naughty!

After that I tried to be better each day!
Some days I did better than others,
but I kept trying.

Years later I met the Empress again. Only this time I had become a great musician. I reminded her of the punishment she once gave me.

The Empress laughed and said,
"Well, I'm glad to see it has done you some good!"

Even if you're naughty it's ok. Try to do better each and every day!
