Once upon a time there was a girl called Joanna.One day, as she was gazing out of the window, she saw some boys fighting.

"Stop!" she shouted and the boys turned around. They looked at her but then ran away quickly.

As she turned and looked back into her room, she was surprised and scared! The room was almost empty...A shadow in the corner whispered creepily... "Find the map in the basement..."

Yes! There was a map in the basement but only one piece of it. Where was the rest and what did it mean? The piece showed London. And that's where she set off to.

Next thing she knew, she was looking at the Big Ben, Tower Bridge and the London Eye and grabbing a bite of fish and chips. "Come on!" said one of the four guards in front of Buckingham Palace. "The Queen is expecting you."

"Let's have some tea" the Queen said. Under the cup instead of a napkin Joanna found a piece of the map.

"Before you solve this puzzle, please run an errand for me. Send me some of my favourite pizza!"

she winked at Joanna.

How could that be?! Joanna found herself in the Colloseum! In the middle of the arena there was one more piece of the map.

She knew she had to follow the lead. But first she had to have some pizza...

That was strange! She was soon on a plane with no idea of her destination. Was it another beautiful country she was going to visit?

Suddenly, she found herself in the middle of a battle! Bombs were falling with terrifying noise , blowing up everything around her! She was in Aleppo, Syria.

She hid in a half-destroyed medieval building in the ancient city. Her heart jumped at every blast...

On the next bang, she woke up crying. She was in bed and those boys outside were still fighting. "Mum" she shouted "I had a terrible nightmare!"

"Don't worry, darling" said her mum soothingly. "You're safe!"

"I know, mum" Joanna answered. "But so many children aren't..."
