Emily lived in the Magical Forest with her
mother and father. Ever since she was little her
biggest dream was to get out of the forest and
go to college. She always loved going to school
because she got to learn new things and be
with her friends.
Emily could remember exactly when she began
to want to go to college. She was in 3rd grade
and read a book about a monkey who wanted
to go to college and become a dentist. The
monkey talked about all of the things that she
learned in college and all of the new friends
that she made. Ever since then Emily has
wanted to go to college.
Emily's mother was not very encouraging in
Emily's decision to go to college. She thought
that Emily would grow out of the idea to attend
college. However, as Emily got older and the
time was soon approaching for Emily to start
applying to college, she began getting worried.
One morning Emily was getting ready for
school and her mother came into the room
upset. She explained to Emily that her father
was sick and would be in the hospital for
awhile. Emily looked at her mom and said,
"He'll be okay because when I get older I'm
going to go to college and will become a
doctor. Then I can help him get better."
Emily's mother gave her a quick smile and
hugged her.
Throughout the next couple of months Emily
and her mother would go visit her father at the
hospital and spend time with him. Emily told
her father about her wish to become a
doctor so she could help him get better. One
day after visiting him, Emily's mother told her
that she would not be able to go to college
because they no longer had the money to cover the cost.
Against her mother's wishes, Emily applied to
colleges anyways. She applied to 4 different
ones and waited to see if she got accepted.
After months and months of waiting, she got 3
acceptance letters back. Although she was
happy, she had not heard back from the school
that she really wanted to go to.
What happened next surprised Emily more
than anything.
One day Emily came back home from studying
underneath her favorite tree. Her mother and
father were waiting on her along with all of her
friends from school. Everyone shouted,
"Surprise!" as she walked up. "What is going
on?" Emily wondered. Her parents then
handed her a letter from the University of
Mushrooms, her dream school. She was so
excited. She opened the letter and it read,
"Congratulations, you have been accepted!"
Emily was so excited to start her life at college
and learn.
"My dreams are coming true!" Emily thought.
She was so happy that her family was so
supportive of her now and that she would
finally be able to become a doctor. She could
not only help her father, but also help others as
well.
