A very, very long time ago there lived the egyptian gods and goddesses. One of
them was named Nut, goddess of the earth, who was married to Geb, god of
the sky. One day Nut decided to go run off on her own to visit another god.
Geb was so angry that he put a curse on her preventing her from having any
children.

Nut then went to her good friend Thoth for help, he was god of wisdom and
learning. Wanting to help his friend he went to the moon god and asked if he
could have some of the light from the moon. In order to get the light he
must play games against the moon and win.

Thoth started winning the games, he won enough light to add five extra
days to the year. Nut had four children on theses five extra days, there
names were Osiris, Isis, Set and Nepthys.

Osiris became king, but there was one problem, his brother Set was very
jealous of all the glory and attention his brother was getting. Set had a devious
plan in which he would create a box that would fit Osiris perfectly.

Set had a dinner party for Osiris one night, during this party he tricked Osiris
into lying down in the box. Right when he was in the box Set put the cover on
it so Osiris would suffocate. When the deed was done he sent the box down
the river.

Osiris's wife and sister, Isis was filled with sorrow over his death. She then
traveled the desert in hope of fining his lost body. With Isis gone and Osiris
dead, Set finally became king of Egypt .

Isis wandered the lands effortlessly looking for the box that held Osiris's body.
One day she sat by the river just as the queens maidens came to bathe. When
they came out of the river Isis showed them how to plait their hair. They
thanked her and then returned to the palace.

Isis's sent seemed to cling to them which the queen loved, she then asked
asked them who had plaited their hair. When the maidens explained that it
was a girl by the Riverside, the queen asked to meet her straightaway.

Once the queen found out Isis was a goddess, she offered her gifts of treasury.
Isis wanted only one thing though, the pillar that held up the roof and what was
contained in it. Once the pillar was cut down she opened it and revealed the box
that Set had created. Inside of it lay the body of Osiris, who she then took with
her back home.
