Once upon a time, all polar bears lived a huge
city called Icedale located in Alaska. Icedale
contained all of the things you would find in a
regular a city such as restaurants, hospitals,
police stations, post offices and more. It was one
of the most advanced and industrialized cities in
the world at the time.

There were different islands of Icedale found on
different chunks of ice. Five of them to be exact.
The most important one, Centerville, was located in
the middle of the other 4. Polar bears usually rode
jetskis or motor boats to travel to and from each
island.

To keep such an expansive and industrial city such
as Icedale running, it is important that they had a
source of energy. The city’s solution to this was to
burn fossil fuels such as oil which was extracted
right outside of Icedale. This was an easy, plentiful
energy source, so the city’s leaders thought
nothing of the use of these fossil fuels.

For a long time, the citizens of Icedale lived there
happily, carrying out their daily lives. While many
of the polars didn’t seem to care, the whole city of
Icedale was beginning to warm. Instead of wearing
jackets, many polars bears started going outside in
shorts and shirts, which quite frankly they enjoyed
very much. But one day that all changed.

The stunning news shocked the city of Icedale. One
of the smaller islands had flooded, sending all of its
inhabitants to Centerville. “What could have caused
this natural disaster?” This was a question going
through the heads of almost all of the citizens in
Icedale.
