Hey! Do you know what Climate is?

Yes and I would love to tell you about it! Climate is how the atmosphere "behaves" over long periods of time. It is determined by long-term averages of daily weather. Some people choose to believe that climate change is not happening, but it is and humans play a huge role.

How do scientists know that the climate is changing?

Well, scientists have collected different data. For example, NASA has found that the global temperature has risen by 2 degrees, oceans have warmed by 3 degrees, sea levels have risen about 8 inches, and many other observations.

What will happen if we do not try to do something about it? I mean after all we are big contributors to climate change.

One thing that can happen is that the sea level could rise 6-16 feet by the year 2300 and have devastating results. Also, the global temperature could rise by 8 degrees and cause many deaths. There could also be a lot of severe weather occurring more frequently.

What are the devastating results of rising sea level?

The worlds ice sheets are melting quick and this will lead to a major rise in sea level. This can cause flooding and deaths of humans, wildlife, and plants.
