Ferguson was a fat cat; his fur was black and white, and he wore a collar with his name shining bright. He was grumpy, sassy, and thought he never got treated right. He often sat at his favourite window (closest to the food bowl) and dreamed about how his life could be so much better if he just moved to a different home with a different family where he could eat more.

He was loved and got fed three times a day by the old man who owned him, he still thought there was a better life out there for him. So, one day Ferguson asked his owner to take his collar off and pack him all the cat food that was his, so that he could set off on his new adventure. The old man said goodbye with a tear in his eye however Ferguson couldn’t wait to have his freedom.

At first everything was going just as great as Ferguson thought it would, he invited all the other cats to come and enjoy his cat food, until, day by day the food slowly started to disappear and so did his friends.

Poor Ferguson roamed the streets looking for a new family to look after and love him, but no one did. Until one day a lady came along and carried Ferguson off the sidewalk and into her house.

At first, he was thrilled to have somewhere to rest, until he realised the lady just wanted him there to catch big ugly rats. He had to sleep on a cold hard floor and Ferguson began to regret his decision, he quickly realised that this life wasn’t as good as it seemed. So, he started thinking maybe he could go back to the old man and beg to stay with him again and just catch rats, he didn’t expect the old man to give him his place back, but at least he would be warm and safe.
So, the next day while the lady was sleeping Ferguson set off home, when he was still a little way from the house, he noticed someone coming towards him walking quite quickly. As the person drew closer, he saw it was the old man carrying something in his hand. Before Ferguson could say anything, the old man picked him up, put his old collar back on, tucked him into his jacket and took him home. When they arrived home the old man sang with joy, he was so happy to have his cat back that he made Ferguson a big feast. That night Ferguson fell asleep at his favourite window but this time he wasn’t grumpy or sassy he was happy and contented knowing that he was home.

The moral of the story is that even though choices have consequences. Both in the original bible story and this story the prodigal character chose to take his wealth (inheritance) and thought they would be better off by themselves without God. The consequences were that they ended by poor, lonely and hungry.
when the mistake was acknowledged, and they realized that they had done something wrong against the father and came home and asked for forgiveness they received it. This was because it was a loving father who was just waiting for them to return. So, the moral is to think about our choices and actions and don’t be afraid to ask for forgiveness. Because God’s love and support is never ending
Lamentations 3:22-23
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
