the industrial revolution made people wealthy

and changed small towns into big cities overnight

industrialization changed our political system when private individuals controlled the money in our country


with more industries and factories you had less farms

CHAPTER 2: SOCIAL CHANGES IN THE PROGRESSIVE ERA
In 1909 a group of people from all races formed the NAACP. the first thing they did was try to end the Jim crow laws.


1889 the Hull house was opened in a poor Chicago neighborhood to help immigrant women and children. The purpose was to educate them so that the wealthy could not take advantage of them in the work place. This was the start of social services.

How The Other Half Lives
Written by Jacob Riis was the social media of the late 1800's. He wrote about and brought attention to the slums and the poor
