Storm Chasers and Tornadoes
Chapter 1
What vehicles do they use
Some storm chasers use vehicles called a scout and a Tornado Intercept Vehicle which is also called a TIV (T-i-v)for short. People can also use a Doppler on Wheels which is called a DOW for short. There are way more vehicles that can be used in storm chasing which
some of those are a scout, and a Dominator which is basically a TIV.
Chapter 2
What they do
Storm chasers collect scientific data so they can get a better warning time so instead of 15 minutes before the tornado hits the town it can be like 30 minutes or more of a warning time.
Some storm chasers use a special instrument called a probe. Storm chasers try to put the probes in the path of a tornado to make the probe go inside the tornado. Then what that does is it sends some data like what wind speed a tornado has to a computer.
