Maestra: Paola Orellana

It was a September night with an immensely starry sky, the one that grandfather chose to say goodbye to little Juan. He wanted to give his beloved grandson a memory for a lifetime, something he would never forget.

"Juan, tonight I want to give you a special gift," Grandpa said.
"What gift, grandfather?" Asked the little boy very happily. "But it's not Christmas yet!"
"It's not Christmas, it's true, but every day is good to receive a gift," Grandpa answered, sure that by the end of the year he would no longer be home.

While Juan sat waiting in Grandpa's old canoe, he took from his pocket a golden metal object that glinted slightly in the moonlight. He took it in hand and with his handkerchief gently rubbed it making it shine even more.

"What a beautiful star!" Juan responded very excitedly, "Thanks Grandpa! I've never seen one like it!"
"It's a star that I made especially for you," answered the grandfather who had a great gift for making beautiful objects with his hands.
-It is very bright! —The amazed child said that his star shone more than the ones in the sky.

"The star shines like that because it's gold," Grandpa explained to his grandson.
"Is it really gold?" Juan asked, surprised to have such a fortune. But we are very poor!
"Yes, it's made of little gold sprinkles that I collected from the river all my life," Grandpa explained. This star is all the material wealth that I can inherit from you.
"Thank you ... Thank you ... Thank you Grandpa!" Him, ”he kept repeating. I will always take care of her ... This star is my treasure!
At that time, Juan did not know that the star was the farewell and the last gift of his grandfather, who a few weeks before Christmas left earth to go up to heaven.
Juan grew up, and even though his grandfather was gone, he felt that he always accompanied him. Every time he looked at the star he remembered a moment of happiness lived with his grandfather, those memories were like golden sparkles that cheered him up when he was sad.
As the years went by, Juan understood the greatest treasure that his grandfather had left him: "his love for him" that despite time continued to shine more than his gold star.
The End.
