One day, while walking down the road, Cem saw a garbage can cry out loud. He was very sad about his situation and immediately went to the garbage can.

- People do not throw their garbage to me anymore. I am very weak. They throw away their garbage and pollute the environment. Don't they like clean surroundings?

 Cem is very upset about this situation of the garbage can.To comfort him, he immediately asked questions about what he was curious about. Cem said, "I'm going to ask you something, the garbage man, you know what garbage is thrown into you and other garbage cans. I was very curious about where they are being thrown, what is being done." What did Cem say to the trash can Recycling?

The trash started telling.

As a result of the social and economic activities of people, all kinds of materials that have expired and become harmful to nature are called waste. Materials such as cardboard, glass, metal, plastic can be classified as waste. Recycling of wastes can only be achieved by recycling. Recycling is the transformation of these wastes, which can be recycled, into a second raw material by subjecting them to physical or chemical processes.

The purpose of recycling is to prevent excessive use of resources, to ensure the separation of wastes at their sources, and to reduce the amount of waste waste.

Depletion of natural resources will be prevented by recycling materials such as paper, cardboard, glass, plastic and metal. With recycling, which contributes greatly to the national economy, the amount of foreign currency paid for imported scrap material will decrease and significant savings will be achieved in energy use. Recycling of used paper reduces air pollution by 74-94%, water pollution by 35% and water use by 45%. Adding 1 ton of waste paper to the pulp prevents 8 trees from being cut down.

At this point, recycling is the best opportunity for the recovery of the economy. On the other hand, many recycled wastes will make a great contribution to the prevention of environmental pollution.

The Importance of Recycling

It prevents the reduction of natural resources.

Recycling of household wastes with compost method increases the fertility of the soil. Thus, both organic and high nutritional value products are obtained.

             Cem was very happy with what he heard.Learning had always made him happy

  He became more conscious of what he learned, more sensitive to the environment.

Why would people choose hard when it was so easy to make the world cleaner ?

 Cem, of course, will not stay with what he has learned.He was going to integrate what he learned into his life. 

He'd start from the closest people ,pass on his information to his family, friends. Who knows, maybe he'd start a project to increase social sensitivity.That's what he did.

The habit of recycling waste has existed since ancient times in nature, so the waste of some living things is considered food for other organisms, and man has practiced the process of recovering waste since the Bronze Age, when he used to melt metal materials to turn them into new tools.

Recycling is intended to reuse the waste; To produce other products that are inferior to the original product.

Since societies have become aware of environmental problems, many countries have taken measures to recycle waste, and waste recycling has many benefits, as they are:

They are the types of recycling:

When the product is composed of several materials that are easy to disassemble and use, we can combine them, for example:

Recycling glass and metal bottles for other new industries.

Recycling paper and cardboard (from magazines and newspapers ) to make other paper and cardboard.

Recycling textile materials and clothing.

Recycling of unusable car tires to other rubber materials.

Recycle aluminum materials into aluminum foil for packing, some auto parts.

Recycle steel into some automotive vehicles, tools, as well as canning traps.

Recycling of plastic materials into packaging materials, bags, some types of clothes, toys,  ... etc.

Recycle wastewater into safe water, thanks to water purification and purification plants.

With paper recycling;

 By recycling 1 ton of paper, cutting down 17 adult trees that provide oxygen needs for 34 people is prevented.

With glass recycling: 

* A 25% reduction in energy consumption is achieved. * 20% reduction in air pollution is achieved. * 80% reduction in mine waste is achieved. * 50% reduction in water consumption is achieved. * The use of natural resources such as sand, soda and lime is also reduced.

With plastic recycling: 

If a 2.5 liter plastic bottle is recovered and used in production, 6 hours of 60 watts of electrical energy can be saved. A seating group for 6 people can be made from 1050 recycled plastic trays, If 25 2-liter drink bottles are recovered, you can get a plastic sweater from this substance. A jacket can be produced from 25 used plastic bottles. A sleeping bag can be made from 35 2.5-liter used PET bottles.

    Organic compounds constitute the majority of the waste that occurs in both houses and in different branches of industry and is called “garbage”.It becomes a continuous source of carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium for agricultural soil as a complement to artificial fertilizer when systematic collection of these wastes resulting in significant amounts and decomposition by composting, providing appropriate environmental conditions, humusization is achieved. In this state, very important steps will be taken in environmental cleaning while providing an important support to the known fertilizer.

 Redesign With Recycling Ideas

A lot of items that are not used, waiting in storage or that we do not evaluate, even though they are in front of our eyes, can actually regain function with recycling ideas. Instead of buying some of the products we need directly, we can design them with simple materials and creativity at home.

_ You can pot from Pet bottles. _ You can make colorful and fun toys from caps. _ You can cover the boxes with colored Wicker ropes and make pots and pencils.

Remember, our garbage chests can actually come in handy with the idea of recycling.

Cem was very happy with all that he had learned.He now looked at the things and waste around him in a much different way. He had other tasks than throwing waste in the trash and forgetting it.Thanks to these tasks, they would have used the resources they used more efficiently. He should have told his friends all the information he learned. Everyone had to know about zero waste and recycling. The philosophy of zero waste should continue as an indispensable part of life. He immediately decided to talk to his teacher. Zero waste projects should have been started in the classroom and school and recycled materials should have been prevented from being trashed.

Projects dedicated to the protection of the environment are always a good idea to raise student awareness, thus they become perfect citizens, and will always know the values of the world they live in, how to love the earth - or home, and how to continuously care for it. 

Permanently doing such  works, students will always know never to litter, never to pollute the earth, the water, the air. And what is more important, how to have zero waste and give a second life to waste.
