There was once a caterpillar named, Cooper. He was crawling around in the forest, when a beautiful creature, with wings, flew right in front of him. 

Hiya! The name's Brooke. Has anyone ever taught you how a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly?

"Uhhh what now?" says Cooper. "How can I do that?"

"Oh it's very simple. There are four simple steps we must follow first before you're as beautiful as me." Brooke explains.

First, you start off as a tiny little egg. Butterflies can lay over hundreds of eggs all at once!

The second stage, is called the Larva. During this stage, the caterpillar's job is to eat, eat, eat! This will help you grow to be a strong butterfly, like me.

The third stage, is the Pupa. This is where the caterpillar gets its beauty rest for a couple of weeks before it is transformed. The caterpillar is in a cocoon of silk so that it's protected during this stage. 

The fourth and final stage, is the Adult stage!  This is when you have finally transformed into a butterfly! Now you can mate, lay eggs, and fly high in the sky. 

"Wow I had no idea that all caterpillars have to go through all of these stages in order to become a butterfly!" says Cooper.

"I guess you better get to it!" shouts Brooke.
