The COVID-19 pandemic had taken a great toll on young Devon and her family, as they had been in isolation for about a year, and were not able to lead normal lives. Both of her parents, Rick and Gina, had been laid off from their jobs, but Devon had managed to maintain her job at the local daycare.

This meant that Devon was the only reliable source of income for her entire family, and she would help to care for her younger brother. 

"Welcome back to the Jay LaFaux show folks, I have some breaking news: the new COVID-19 vaccine, made by Lucid Inc., contains microchips in them! It's simply an instrument for the government to control you!"

You'll never catch me taking that vaccine!

Devon and her family sit down every day at 4:00pm to watch their favourite television station: Real News hosted by Jay LaFaux. 

The Lucid vaccine has become available for all citizens in their community to receive, yet her family is extremely fearful due to the influx of false information provided to them daily. This specific news station had also been exaggerating many reports of side effects such as blood clots, deaths, and infertility, but do not mention that they are extremely rare.

Louis? What are you doing in here?

I haven't been able to sleep...so many nightmares!

I have too! I get no rest...

It is evident that such false information is used to scare the viewers and persuade them into not receiving the vaccine. But, Devon and her family have been watching this station for such a long time they have no other perspective, and are used to this way of thinking. 

Devon and her family are now terrified and vow to never take a COVID-19 vaccination. 

They have become so scared that Devon and her younger brother, Louis, have reported having nightmares of microchips and other countless fatal side-effects. 

Yes Devon, it is a requirement for each staff member to be vaccinated. Otherwise, I will have to let you go.

Oh Amelia, is this mandatory?

A few days pass, and Devon gets a call from her employer, Amelia, who says that she must book a vaccine appointment before the end of the week or she will be laid off of work.
