"I sure wish I could travel with my father..."
Marco Polo was born in 1254 to a Wealthy Merchant family. Though his mother died while he was young, his father and uncle were travelling to China to collect trade goods and information of Asia. Marco had never met his father as a child and only heard stories of his father's exotic adventures
When Marco was 15, his father and uncle returned home to bring him along on their next journey to China to work alongside the great Kublai Khan, Mongol emperor of China. They were meant to bring Christian missionaries to help convert the Chinese people to Christianity, though had to travel with just themselves.
