I would like to dedicate this book to all the sailors and their families who lost their lives.

The bombing of Pearl Harbor was when Japanese planes dropped bombs on the Harbor in Hawaii destroying most of the U.S. Navy and causing many casualties. This event occurred on December 7th, 1941. During World War II. Even though it occurred during the war the U.S. was not involved in battles up until this point.

The Japanese launched this attack because even though the U.S. wasn't in the war, they helped supply the Allies, which hurt the Axis Powers, including Japan. They also wanted to prevent them from interfering with their battles on the Pacific.

After the attack was done the losses were great for the U.S. and small for Japan. The U.S. lost most of its navy and 2,403 people both navy members and civilians. Japan lost 29 planes and a few submarines but that was nothing compared to the damage they had done. The pilots knew it was a suicide mission but it was honorable to die.

During the attack the U.S.S Arizona was among the ships sunk into the Pacific Ocean, unfortunately around 900 sailors lost their lives when U.S.S Arizona sunk. The other ships that sunk were recovered after the attack, but the U.S.S Arizona was too heavy. There was no option to leave it in the water and the sailors' bodies left in an underwater grave. A memorial was built over the ship, to remember and honor those who were lost.
