Economics
An economy is a system in which people make, exchange, and use things that have value. Ways to measure economy are GDP per capita (GDP divided by population; the average amount of money made per person) and Standard of living (Measurement of a country’s education, housing, health, and nutrition). This determines if a nation is developed or undeveloped.

Government
Government - Organization that sets up and enforces laws. There are 100s of different kinds of governments. Most happen to fit in these categories: Tribal rule, Direct Democracy, Representative Democracy/Republic, Constitutional Monarchy, Dictatorship, Absolute Monarchy, Oligarchy.

Culture
Culture is the way of life of a group of people. Culture can be many different things such as beliefs, customs, clothing, religion, etc.
Ethnocentrism - The tendency to view your own culture as being better than others
Cultural Landscape - Parts of a people’s environment that they have shaped and the technology they have used to shape it.
Institutions - Customs and organizations with social, educational, or religious purposes.

Religion
During history class, you will learn about many different groups of people and their cultures. Religion can have a big role in someone's culture. Religion is the beliefs in and worships of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.

There are many different religions, but the five most practiced religions are Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism.
River Civilizations, Egypt
Ancient Egypt was a civilization along the Nile River from 3200 BCE-500 BCE. The Nile River forms a delta in the Mediterranean, and floods every summer creating very fertile soil for farming. Because the Nile is an ideal spot for farming and a source of water Ancient Egypt was able to last around 3,000 years. Ancient Egypt was polytheistic which is the belief in many gods.
