To everyone who supports me...
and to those who are courageous enough to fight for what they believe in.

Susan B. Anthony was born in Massachusetts, in the United States, to her parents Daniel and Lucy Read Anthony on February 15, 1820. She was the second oldest child out of 7, although 2 of her siblings had
sadly died at young ages.

Growing up, Susan was raised in a family who cared a lot about people and helped others a lot. She spent most of her childhood and her life as an adult working on impor-tant issues. She felt inspired by the belief that all people were equal under God, and this idea shaped her lifestyle.

After she and her family moved to New York from Massachusetts in 1826, she attended a public school, then a home school created by her father, and finally a boarding school near Philadelphia.

After her schooling, Susan began teaching at Canajoharie Academy, a school for women in New York.

After teaching for years, Susan traveled to an anti-slavery convention. Here she meets fellow activists Amelia Bloomer, William Lloyd Garrison, George Thompson, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. All of these people disliked that people were owned by others and forced to work in the United States and wanted to free these slaves.

After this meeting, she became an agent for the American Anti-Slavery Society in 1856. As a member, she had set up meetings, given speeches, put up posters, and handed out informational papers.

How you can help:

After attending a New York State Teachers' Convention in 1857, she began to support access to equal education for both Women and African Americans.

Susan conducted many anti-slavery campaigns across the nation and inspired others to join the movement.
