CONTAMINATION

MIRNA COELLO
Contamination is the introduction of substances or other physical elements unfit for use. The pollutant may be a chemical substance or an energy (sound, heat, light or radioactivity). It is always a negative alteration of the natural state of the environment and usually occurs as a result of human activity.
History of pollution

Environmental pollution began in South America 240 years before the Industrial Revolution. The earliest evidence of atmospheric pollution to human activities has appeared in a high-altitude glacier ice block in the Andes.

Atmospheric pollution

Atmospheric pollution is the presence in the air of materials or forms of energy that involve risk, damage or serious discomfort to people and beings of the popular nature, as well as that can attack different materials, reduce visibility or produce unpleasant odors and diseases.

Soil contamination

Soil contamination is a degradation of soil quality associated with the presence of chemical substances. It is defined as an increase in the concentration of chemical compounds, which causes detrimental changes and reduces their potential use, both by human activity and by nature.
Vehicle Pollution
Public transportation is the main means of transportation for Guayaquil residents. It is estimated that around 17,000 public transport units operate in the city, including buses, taxis, express, and tricimotos.
Traffic pollution is pollution caused by the combustion of fossil fuels, especially gasoline.
The internal combustion engines of vehicles emit various types of gases and particles that pollute the environment, the products that are emitted in greater quantity are: nitrous oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2) , volatile organic compounds and also particulates.

Advice
- Periodically check your car
- Share the car
- Use the bicycle
- Use ecological alternatives to fossil fuels, such as biodiesel.
- Prohibition of circulation for certain vehicles (eg: peak and license plate)
- Absolute prohibition of movement
- Vehicle inspection by competent authorities

SALTED ESTERO CRITICAL POINT OF CONTAMINATION
The Estero Salado suffers from severe problems of contamination of both its waters and its banks, due exclusively to the wild disposal of garbage and industrial and domestic waste. It is also threatened by families who gain land from the water mirror and build illegal houses.

Causes Elías Pérez Reyes
of water pollution.
Water pollution or water contamination is a modification of water, usually caused by humans, that renders it unfit or unsafe for consumption, industry, agriculture, fishin and activities, as well as for animals.
Although water pollution can come from natural sources, such as ash from a volcano, most pollution today comes from human activities. It is caused by the release of wastes and pollutants that drain into runoff and are then transported into rivers, entering groundwater or discharging into lakes or seas.
