WEEK 7

Letter F

Last month, I dropped a mail at the post office and that mail was for the birthday of my friend and classmate. That was the first time I  experienced sending a letter using the classic snail mail. It was a strange but really exciting experience. This week my friend already received it although her birthday was done. Well, I expected that scenario since it was the nature of snail mail that's why it called snail mail. But then, it is worth waiting for and I really love and enjoy the experience. Especially the gratitude that I received from my friend, I am amused that she appreciated my simple act. 

And let me share my short story about it why I did that kind of effort for my friend.

First of all, I am the type of person who prefers few but true friends.  I select and choose my companion. Once I considered a person as my friend I am loyal to them and make them feel special in my own little ways. I value my friends so much, and I am trying to make myself available if they need my help. So in that way, they feel that there is a friend who they count on. 

But I treat my friends differently depending on my hierarchy of friends. This hierarchy depends on how I will rank them according to my standards and qualifications. As I had said I select my friends and companion not because I am judgmental or what but it is my way of protecting myself against parasites and people who will just take advantage of my loyalty. 

Going back to the snail mail topic, this friend I referring to is a special friend of mine the second-highest rank in my hierarchy of friends, and the most valuable among my friends so far since I do not have a best friend yet. Receiving a letter from me means that I value that person so much.

Since she is special to me, I treat her extra special than my other friends. I allot more time, effort, care, having fun, and deep talks with her, and I considered her as a family. So writing her a letter was my gesture of showing how I appreciate her. In fact, this was my third letter to her. So if you are reading this I want to say that I learn many things from you and I am blessed to be your friend.
