Introduction: 3
Teams: 4
Welcome to the book NBA Teams. In this book, you will learn the players on these teams, the championships, the everything.
Atlanta Hawks
Number of Championships: 1
Stars over the Years: Bob Pettit, Pete Maravich, Dominique Wilkins, Dikembe Mutombo, Joe Johnson, Paul Millsap, Trae Young
The Young-lead Atlanta Hawks are very young. Yet they showed that they were talented by reaching the Conference Finals this year, upseting the New York Knicks and the top-seeded 76ers. They have a lot of potential if they keep on going on this route.
Boston Celtics
Number of Championships: 17
Stars over the Years: Bill Russell, Bob Cousy, John Havlicek, Larry Bird, Bob Mcadoo, Robert Parish, Kevin McHale, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo, Antoine Walker, Isaiah Thomas, Al Horford, Jayson Tatum, Kyrie Irving, Jaylen Brown.
Fun Fact: The Celtics have the most championships in all of NBA history. Right now, they have young stars in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. If Brown returns, they can be threat for the championship.
Brooklyn Nets
Number of Championships: 0
Stars over the Years: Rick Barry, Julius Erving, Drazen Petrovic, Jason Kidd, Vince Carter, Brook Lopez, Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, D-Angelo Russell, Kyrie Irving, James Harden, Kevin Durant
The Nets hopes at winning the 2021 championship fell short when Irving and Harden got injured. If Joe Harris doesn't brick wide open three point shots again and the Nets stay healthy, they on the road to victory.
Charlotte Hornets
Number of Championships: 0
Stars over the Years: Alonzo Mourning, Larry Johnson, Glen Rice, Dell Curry, Kemba Walker, Lamelo Ball
Did you know that the Charlotte Hornets had the smallest player ever in the NBA, Mugsy Bogues?
The Hornets haven't gotten too much success yet, but Lamelo Ball looks like he has a bright future.
Chicago Bulls
Number of Championships: 6
Stars over the Years: Reggie Theus, Artis Gilmore, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Derrick Rose, Jimmy Butler, Zach Lavine
The Chicago Bulls have gone a while since they're last playoff appearance. That might change soon, with the arrival of Lonzo Ball and veteran DeMar DeRozan joining the team in the offseason. With Zach Lavine, they're are a playoff contender.
Cleverland Cavaliers
Number of Championships:1
Stars over the Years: Nate Thurmond, Mark Price, Lebron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love
Not many stars for the Cavs, but they have won a ring. They have talented young players in Collin Sexton, Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, and have veteran Kevin Love and drafted Evan Mobley.
Who knows? Maybe the rebuild will be successful?
Dallas Mavericks
Number of Championships: 1
Stars over the Years: Mark Aguirre, Rolando Blackman, Jason Kidd, Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Luka Doncic, Kristaps Porzingis.
The Mavericks currently have one of the best players in the league with Luka Magic. Doncic, if not injured, has a ton of potential. The Mavs probably lost the first round because of Kristaps Porzingis bricking every shot he took. If he, Doncic, and Hardaway Jr. do well, they could have a good year, with Doncic signing a rookie extension.
Denver Nuggets
Number of Championships: 0
Stars over the Years: Alex English, Dikembe Mutombo, Carmelo Anthony, Allen Iverson, Chauncey Billups, Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray.
The Nuggets have Nikola Jokic, returning Jamal Murray, and a rising Michael Porter Jr, and "the best player in the game", Bol Bol! Off Jokic's MVP year, they can win the ring with a healthy team.
(I'm joking about Bol Bol)
Detroit Pistons
Number of Championships: 3
Stars over the Years: Isiah Thomas, Dennis Rodman, Ben Wallace, Chauncey Billups, Blake Griffin, Andre Drummond.
The Pistons came off an off year, but they got the first pick and got Cade Cunningham. Hopefully the rebuild works and Cunningham isn't a bust.
Golden State Warriors
Number of Championships: 6
Stars over the Years: Wilt Chamberlain, Rick Barry, Nate Thurmond, Chris Mullin, Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodula, Draymond Green, Kevin Durant
The Golden State Warriors missed the playoffs because Draymond Green's floater didn't even touch the rim. Klay Thompson will be returning this year if he doesn't get injured, so that is one thing to look forward to.
Houston Rockets
Number of Championships: 2
Stars over the Years: Moses Malone, Hakeem Olajuwon, Ralph Sampson, Clyde Drexler,
Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming, James Harden, Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul
The Rockets right now aren't doing that well, with John Wall and Christian Wood, but they did draft Jalen Green with high hopes, so maybe it will work out?
Indiana Pacers
Number of Championships: 0
Stars over the Years: Reggie Miller, Chris Mullin, Mel Daniels, Danny Granger, Paul George, Victor Oladipo, Domantas Sabonis.
The Pacers did make it into the play-in tournament at the 9th seed and crushed the Hornets, but then they got crushed by the Wizards. Sabonis is good, but they are probably not winning it all any time soon.
Los Angeles Clippers
Number of Championships: 0
Stars over the Years: World B. Free, Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, DeAndre Jordan, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George.
The Clippers haven't had much success over the years, but they are champion contenders with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. Kawhi Leonard got injured, so he couldn't play in the Conference Finals.
If he wasn't injured, maybe they could have made it to the Finals?
Los Angeles Lakers
Number of Championships: 16
Stars over the Years: Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, Pau Gasol, LeBron James, Anthony Davis.
The Lakers are champion contenders, but because of injuries, they didn't even grab the 6th seed! They got stuck at 7th and almost lost to the Warriors. Then they lose 4-2 to the Suns because of AD getting injured. They did get Russell Westbrook in a trade, but the best player now on the Lakers if the Big Three is injured is a 38-year old Marc Gasol. If they stay healthy, they can win it all.
Memphis Grizzlies
Number of Championships: 0
Stars over the Years: Pau Gasol, Marc Gasol, Tony Allen, Mike Conley, Ja Morant
The Grizzlies beat the Spurs and beat the Warriors in a thriller in the play-in tournament. They also took one away from the Utah Jazz, but they lost to the Jazz. Ja Morant soared to victory, and they have the sixth man of the year Brandon Clarke. They have a good team, but they need some better players to become real contenders for the ring.
Miami Heat
Number of Championships: 3
Stars over the Years: Tim Hardaway, Alonzo Mourning, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, LeBron James, Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo
The Heat just got swept by the Bucks in the first round, but they got veterans Kyle Lowry and defensive specialist P.J. Tucker. They have a good team, but I think they are paying an old Kyle Lowry way too much.
Milwaukee Bucks
Number of Championships: 2
Number of Stars: Oscar Robertson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Ray Allen, Sidney Moncrief, Tim Thomas, Sam Cassell, Michael Redd, Brandon Jennings, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday.
The Bucks have been NBA Champions! Led by the big Three, they swept the Heat, they beat the Nets in a seven-game thriller (I am a Nets fan), beat the Hawks in six, and beat the Suns also in six. They did lose P.J. Tucker in the offseason though, but with Giannis scoring, Middleton being the secondary scorer, and Jrue Holiday playing awesome defense, they can back-to-back rings.
Minnesota Timberwolves
Number of Championships: 0
Stars over the Years: Kevin Garnett, Stephon Marbury, Kevin Love, Zach LaVine, Andrew Wiggins, Jimmy Butler, Karl-Anthony-Towns.
The T-Wolves came off a season full of injuries and couldn't make the playoffs. Maybe if the "Big Three"
(KAT, D'Angelo Russell, and Edwards) weren't injured, maybe they could make it?
New Orleans Pelicans
Number of Championships: 0
Number of Stars: Chris Paul, Anthony Davis, Jrue Holiday, Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram
Zion is a little small to play the PF position, but his strength makes up for it. Playing the C would be too hard for a 6'6 man. Ingram's doing well, just a ton of injuries.
New York Knicks
Number of Championships: 2
Stars over the Years: Willis Reed, Walt Frazier, Larry Johnson, Allan Houston, Patrick Ewing, Carmelo Anthony, Julius Randle.
The Knicks finally made it to the playoffs again, but lost to the Hawks in 5 games. That is just sad.
Oklahoma City Thunder
Number of Championships: 1
Stars over the Years: Lenny Wilkins, Spencer Haywood, Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp, Kevin Durant, Russell Wedstbrook, James Harden, Chris Paul, Paul George, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
You know, the Thunder have had many stars, but just haven't gotten the final piece together yet. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is good, but not good enough for the title. Good look rebuilding!
Orlando Magic
Number of Championships: 0
Stars over the Years: Shaquille O'Neal, Penny Hardaway, Horace Grant, Tracy McGrady, Dwight Howard, Nikola Vuecvic
The Magic are in rebuild mode, with young players like Jonathan Isaac and Mo Bamba. They recently drafted Jalen Suggs with the 5th pick, (In 2k21 MyLeague, Jonathan Isaac always wins DPOY). The rebuild might take a few years though.
Philadelphia 76ers
Number of Championships: 3
Stars over the Years: Wilt Chamberlain, Billy Cunningham, Julius Erving, Moses Malone, Charles Barkley, Allen Iverson, Andre Iguodala, Joel Emblid, Tobias Harris, Ben Simmons
It was a disappointing end to the 76ers season after they lost as the top seed to the 5th seed Hawks in seven. Seth Curry and Emblid played well, but Simmons passed up a wide open dunk that was part of the game 7 loss. That's sad.
Phoenix Suns
Number of Championships: 0
Stars over the Years: Charles Barkley, Steve Nash, Amar'e Stoudamire, Devin Booker, DeAndre Ayton.
The Suns just lost to the Bucks in six games, even though they won the first two. Jrue Holiday was locking up Chris Paul, Booker was awesome, and Ayton couldn't stop the "Greak Freak". Better luck next time!
Portland Trail Blazers
Number of Championships: 1
Stars over the Years: Clyde Drexler, Arvydas Sabonis, Brandon Roy, Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum
Yes, we all know Lillard's logo shot. But they need defense on the team, because defense wins championships. Also, Lillard starting to get a little old, so better win that ring while it lasts!
Sacremento Kings
Number of Championships: 1
Stars over the Years: Mitch Richmond, Oscar Robertson, Nate Archibald, Peja Stojakovic, Chris Webber, DeMarcus Cousins, De-Aaron Fox.
Fox and Hield are good, but not good enough. Hield didn't live up to his 4 year $88 million dollar contract anyway.
