It was Christmas Eve in the Smyth house. Everyone was so excited, especially Holly. She was hoping Santa would bring her the puppy she had wished for, for so long!

Holly's mom told her to go to bed early so she would have loads of energy for the long day ahead..... but Holly could not sleep with excitement.

At six o'clock the next morning Holly ran into her parents bedroom screaming "Its Christmas, get up please". They hurried downstairs to find presents left under the tree. 

Holly opened all her presents from Santa. She got loads of new toys, books and even a new bike but she was just a little disappointed because she didn't get the dog she was hoping for.

At nine o'clock a car pulled up the snowy driveway. It was Holly's uncle, Pat and he had something in his arms. He yelled "Holly I have a special delivery from Santa". 

Holly screamed. It was the cutest puppy she had ever seen and it was all hers. 

Holly was so happy with her new puppy, she played with it all afternoon. Holly decided to name the puppy Bailey. They went on a walk in the evening and they were best friends by the time night time came. 

Before she knew it, it was time for her to put her new puppy to bed. During the night a terrible storm came. It whistled and howled and scared Bailey.
