Hi, my name is Josie and I am starting my 2nd grade year at Johns Elementary school. I am so excited to be in 2nd grade this year!

I always get so excited to start the new school year but then I find myself getting nervous. I have an autism, along with anxiety. I am so glad I get to be in the same classroom as my friends despite my disability.

The first day of school was so much fun! I got to see all of my friends I haven't been able to see all summer. I got to play soccer with my friend Mya.

The second day of school started to feel more like a normal school day. We did a few worksheets and then it was time for me to go with my occupational therapist to work on my motor skills.

When I have to leave the classroom with my occupational therapist, Ms. Adams, is when I find my anxiety at its peak. There is one kid in my class, Jake, who makes fun of me because of my disability and that I have to leave the classroom for extra help.

Ms. Adams came to get me and I was so excited because I hadn't seen her all summer but I noticed Jake start laughing. I got so upset and I started to cry to Ms. Adams. She asked me what was wrong and I tried my best to explain to her that someone was making fun of me for needing extra help because of my autism and anxiety.

After I was done with Ms. Adams, she told me that she would talk to Jake. I noticed my anxiety got worse after she said that because I didn't want him to be mean to me after I told on him. Ms. Adams called him to the hallway and asked if he knew why he was in the hallway, and he knew.

Ms. Adams explained to him that his laughing really hurt my feelings. He was really understanding and felt bad he was hurting my feelings. He then apologized to me and said he would not do that anymore. I was so happy he apologized and was not going to be mean anymore!
