Food Insecurity
Food insecurity concerns the lack of food and water, or the lack of basic goods for our life. In the world this phenomenon is unfortunately greater in Africa and Asia but also in USA and it persists in one in six people. Since 2014, the number of people suffering from hunger in the world has returned to grow, in 2017 it was 821 million.
This phenomenon causes various problems including malnutrition which is the greatest in the world. Many children around the world suffer from hunger and are forced to malnourish.
Furthermore, "undernourishment" is abundant in the world and affects countries where there is no economic growth and there's a low income.
Being exposed to food insecurity means facing difficulties in obtaining food, reducing the quality and/or quantity of the foods you consume. The term is more specifically defined as not having consistent access to sufficiently nutritious, cheap and culturally appropriate food due to a lack of money and other resources. Helping the poorest countries is needed to solve this problem.
The solution to the food insecurity is hard to accomplish because it takes a lot of people to change their behaviour. It takes all people to change, but everybody has to start from themselves. Also, it’s government’s problem because they are not paying people adequatelly. Food waste is a big problem and we all do it. For example, restaurants just throw away the food that they could be giving to people who truly need it.
We have to deal with climate change also because it’s one of the biggest problems of today’s world and it causes planet to die and by that it causes a lot of plants to die and we won’t have food anymore. Factory farming should be stopped also because they massively feed animals and they’re not thinking about people who they could feed with all of that food. The solution really lies in changing ourselves to the better.
We also have to mention structural racism which is a massive peoblem beacuse they don’t just have a food insecurity problem, they have to choose between food, a house, eduaction and work. Sometimes they even have to quit their education because they don’t have money to continue eduaction or they have to quit it to get a job. People shouldn't be put in a position where they have to choose between the most essential needs such as food, medicine or household.
