Stage 1: Trust versus Mistrust
Description: The key to development is our mother. This is when we start developing fear/mistrust.
Crisis: We don't know who we can or can not trust to keep us safe.
Age: 1-2 years, Infancy.

Stage 2: Autonomy versus shame and doubt
Age: 2-4 years, Early Childhood.
Description: Can discover the real you, and develop self-confidence if allowed to, parents play a major role here.
Crisis: Develop shame and self-guilt, if parents don't support you.

Stage 3: Initiative Versus Inferiority
Age: 4-5 years, Pre-School Age.
Description: Following your interests, trying things out, taking the initiative.
Crisis: If held back or told what they're doing is wrong, they can develop guilt.

Stage 4: Industry versus Inferiority
Age: 5-12 years, School Age.
Description: Discover our interest and that we are different, seek recognition from others, people influence us
Crisis: If we receive too much negativity we lose motivation and become inferior.

Stage 5: Identity versus role confusion
Age: 13-19 years, Adolescence.
Description: Different social roles, peers and role models help influence us.
Crisis: identity crisis, if parents don't allow us to explore we face role confusion and feel lost.
