Kiran Bedi was born on June 9, 1949, in Amritsar, Punjab. She was the second of four daughters born to Prakash Peshawariya and Prem Peshawariya.
She took an interest in tennis which she inherited from her father and achieved many titles like:
After her schooling, she completed her graduation in B.A English honors and also earned her Master’s degree in Political Science from the Punjab University, Chandigarh.

Kiran Bedi is the first woman in India to join the officer ranks of the Indian Police Service, social activist and tennis player, who was the 24th Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry from 28 May 2016 to 16 February 2021.

FUN FACT
Kiran Bedi is often referred to as ‘Crane Bedi’, because she towed the car of the Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, for a parking violation. This shows the sense of responsibility and dedication that she has in her work.
