Hamilton's life!

Alexander Hamilton is known as one of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America, and for a good reason! This book focuses on his life and what he contributed to America to help it become the way it is today. Let's get to knowing Hamilton!

Alexander Hamilton was born on January 11, 1755 on a Carribiean Island called Nevis. His father left when he was 10 years old, and when he was 11 both him and his mother got terribly sick. Alexander was okay, but his mother died from the sickness, leaving Alexander an orphan.

Alexander, at a very early age, started working with a merchant named Thomas Stevens. He worked at a trading firm learning a lot about business. When he was 15 Alexander wrote a letter about the hurricane that got him and his mom sick, but when people saw it they were so impressed by his skills, they gathered up money to send him to New York and go to college on a boat! He went to King’s College where he started to get into politics.

When the Revolutionary war started, Alexander signed up to go fight for his country. He quickly became an officer for the soldiers during the Battle of White Plains. This is where George Washington plays an important part in his life!

George Washington asked Hamilton to be his aid during the war. He was by his side for the majority of the time, writing letters back home to communicate about the war and let them know how it is going and what they need. Alexander also helped win the Battle of Yorktown, which was the end of the Revolutionary War.

After the war, Alexander went home and became a lawyer. He also became a member of Congress and started to fight for changes in the way the government was running things. In 1787, Alexander joined the Constitutional Convention, hoping he could help form a strong federal government.
