Hello Everyone, let me read you my grandfather's autobiography, I find it inspiring, I hope you like it.

It was 11th April 1919, I was playing with my friends with a tire and stick, when suddenly my mother called -"Arjun come back!!"I ran home, where I saw British soldiers demanding something from my family. They were asking for money, which they called British services tax. Our family was already suffering, most days we either ran out of groceries or salt to make food. My father refused to pay. He pleaded but instead, they barged in the house and took all the valuable things they could find.

My father had enough, the next day he joined a council that was protesting against the British. We shifted to Amritsar where the protests were at their peak. When we reached there, we got to know that the two pro-independence leaders- Dr. Saifuddin Kitchlew and Dr. Satya Pal were arrested. The council arranged a peaceful protest against the British to release the leaders. On 13th April 1919, A large crowd gathered at Jallianwala bagh to protest.
Me and my family were there at the meeting but something happened which changed Punjab's history forever.
The British under General Dyer came and blocked the only exit of the bagh. The British, not realizing ordered fire. People tried to flee in all directions, but none of them were able to escape. My mother hid me behind a well and went to find my father. Men, women, children, elderly were all massacred. The British fired until the ammunition was over, after they left I got up to see the corpses lying everywhere. From that day, I never found my family. I was devasted.
