CHAPTER I
On last year's summer holidays, a young portuguese tourist chose Australia as his holiday destination. He was a well-known biologist who had never visited Australia and was very curious to discover a new continent and be able to travel to the other side of the world.
After several hours on a plane, this young man felt the need to rest because, the next morning, he would have an expedition through the eucalyptus forest: what would be the most challenging and unbelievable experience of his life!
![](https://images2-cdn.storyjumper.net/transcoder.png?trim&id=93b0408102&maxw=512&maxh=512)
That morning, the tourist took his equipment, dressed up, took his camera, binoculars and ventured alone through the dense and mysterious forest.
After walking about two kilometers, he thought he heard sounds that seemed to come from the sky. He took his binoculars and observed a koala in the tallest eucalyptus tree in front of him.
He was amazed! He noticed this koala, with its glossy gray fur, who seemed to have a distant, frightened look.
Suddenly, the tourist heard a cry for help.

The tourist couldn't believe it...a koala talking!? He asked him to come down from the eucalyptus tree.
Scared and suspicious, the koala slowly descended to the ground and, as it was a somewhat solitary animal, it kept its distance while exclaiming:
- Heeeeeeeelp!!! SOS !!!! The forest is burning!!! Call for help! In a little while a fire will break out on the other side of the forest and all my friends could die in the fire.

The tourist called the rangers and reassured the koala, who quickly began to trust him. They spoke of the biodiversity of their countries and shortly afterwards the authorities arrived and declared the fire extinguished.
The koala explained to him and made a request:
![](https://images2-cdn.storyjumper.net/transcoder.png?trim&id=2y-1m4lxhwil3-5y4q3fkxv&maxw=512&maxh=512)
-As I'm still a small child, could you help me to make posters using wooden boards, to spread and warn tourists about the danger of burning in the forest. We need to act!!! We cannot let them destroy our habitat!

The tourist, who had many environmental concerns, easily accepted the proposal. For two days they worked as a team to change people for the dangers that this habitat was being subjected to: fires, deforestation and hunting.
Meanwhile, as the date of returning to Portugal approached, the tourist invited his new friend:
-Do you want to travel around Europe? On this continent, other animals live in constant danger. In Vila do Conde, in our sea, we have some species threatened by climate change and human action. Maybe you can help us too...

The koala, pricked up its ears and
….agreed to travel to Europe with the Portuguese biologist.
When they arrived at the Vila do Conde, they went home to rest. The next day, they took see mask and snorkel to go to the beach. When they arrived, they swim in the sea and saw three dolphins and a whale who were frightened. They met each other, climbed on their backs, took a ride and became friends.
The dolphins were very upset because people threw too much garbage into the sea.

Then the koala asked the dolphins:
-Why does garbage bother you?
-Because we get confused and eat them! Then, we get sick, answered the dolphins.
-Do you want us to help you and explain it to people, so they don't throw garbage into the sea again.
-Yes, but how, wondered the dolphins.
- Let’s make a poster and a podcast!
The actions was very succeeded!
People promised to be more
careful and reduce their garbage.
The coala was very satisfied
with the environmental actions
that it was placed in Portugal.
After the actions taken by the koala, together with the Portuguese biologist, they decided to travel to Greece to meet other animals that might be in danger. In Greece they could visit Crete, the country's largest island.
They said goodbye to the dolphins, got on the plane bound for Greece!
CHAPTER III

1st Primary School of Agios Nikolaos, Greece
Assistant Teacher: Marina Atsalaki
After a beautiful journey, they arrived in Greece. Because Crete is an island, they had to travel from Athens to Crete by plane or boat. They wanted something different and chose to travel by ship.
The ship would take many hours to reach Crete. They took time to get to know each other and say what they like and become very good friends. The Portuguese biologist expressed his love for sea turtles. He would love to see it in person. After several hours they reached the island and went to rest. The next day they woke up very happy and decided to go to the sea and see the turtles.
So it happened. They ate breakfast and immediately left for the sea. There they also found a shop that provides equipment to swim in the sea and see the turtles up close.
- do you want to go into the sea and see the turtles up close? Said the koala
-Really? Would you like to come with me too?
-Yes of course.
So they turned to the person in charge and he prepared the diving equipment for them.
- you are ready! Said the person in charge and they fell into the sea and started swimming.
They swam, swam, swam…. And suddenly they saw the first turtle. They were so happy that they "ran" to meet her up close.
-hello turtle! Called the Koala.
-hello koala! The turtle said dryly
- why do you look sad?
• Because I saw something that upset me.
•What?
•The ships. A lot of rubbish is thrown around and we get tangled up in it and can't free ourselves.
• Ooooh I'm so sorry…
• Could I do something about it? The biologist asked
•I do not know. Could you talk to the captains maybe? Don't throw their garbage into the sea.
• Yes I will talk to both the captains and the people on land.
After this discussion the biologist and the koala went ashore. They immediately went to the port and talked to the people in charge. They agreed not to throw their garbage into the sea but to recycle it. They also went to the beaches and put up signs and recycling bins everywhere to keep litter from littering the land. The biologist and the koala were very happy with what they achieved and hope the world will change the way people think and be careful. They continued their vacation for a few days and were thinking about what their next destination will be.
The next destination is….
CHAPTER IV
… in a forest in Northern Greece. The koala and the Portuguese biologist chose to travel by ship and bus, because they are more environmentally friendly.
They just arrived in Northern Greece, they went somewhere to rest. Suddenly, a sound was heard from the forest and they went to see what it was. They met a bear that had traps on its leg.
Then the biologist said to the koala:
-Let 's go save her!
-I am afraid that it will attack us, said the koala.
![](https://images2-cdn.storyjumper.net/transcoder.png?trim&id=76-vs7mzj2afx-5ypowwcyh&maxw=256&maxh=256)
The bear roared and the biologist, knowing her language, understood that it was asking for help.
When they approached the bear, they helped her free itself and she thanked them by asking them to be friends. And that’s happened.
Later the bear told the biologist and the koala about her problem with traps.
-People trap me to kill me and take my fur.
The biologist with the koala and
the bear organized a
demonstration outside the fur
shops.
So the state decided that only
fake furs should be sold.
The biologist’s journey
with the koala continued …

Same days later Koala and Biologist decidet want to go south of Turkey have a nice sunny holiday
They want to go there by bicycle because they want to draw attention to clean energie…
So about a week journey they came to Antalya
But the beach there was a lot of garbage on the beach the caretta turtles could not bury its eggs in the sand on the beach because of the garbage. Koala and Biologist who gave this helped the Karettas. They held a meeting on the beach. They talked about environment approaches and solutions a lot of people so people dont throw away their trash anymore .Sane of them will make a custome party about Recycling materials…Now Koala and Biologist very happy to solve this problem…They decidet want to go an another country…..
CHAPTER VII
Our protagonists arrived at the Joan Ardèvol School in Cambrils (Spain) and met the first graders. The students are working on the SOS Climate Change project and we explained to them what we do to save the planet:
We have learned to pick up the rubbish we find on the floor.
We collect the trash we find in the sea.
We recycle rubbish so as not to pollute.
We use a lunchbox so as not to generate waste at breakfast.
We don't waste water when we wash our hands, or drink...
The koala and the biologist were very happy to hear all the work the boys and girls were doing at school.
They realized that the best thing to do is not to generate waste or garbage in order not to pollute the planet and slow down climate change.
And so they left for the next country…

CHAPTER IX
Finally, the koala together with a group of children from different schools arrived at the distant shores of Northern Canada where the whales live!
There they met a mother whale with her baby. The children saw a whale for the first time so close and they looked at them in amazement. Suddenly Andreas saw a wound under the fin.

The whale looked at them sadly and began to tell its story. Where she was swimming with her young, a whaling ship suddenly appeared. They started chasing us and throwing harpoons at us to catch me. I was afraid for my little one and started beating the sea. A big wave rose and pushed the ship away. luckily I took a chance and dived very deep with my baby.
