My mission that I will be reporting on is the San Jose Mission. Located in the upper part of California in the beautiful city of Fremont, California. The San Jose Mission was the 14th mission built out of the 21 missions. The mission was found on June 11, 1797 by Father Fermin Francisco de Lasuen.

San Jose Mission was so unique because it was the most successful of the northern missions. It grew grain, beans & vegetables and had large olive and fruit tree orchards. The mission was known for the quality of its olive oil. In 1805 smallpox and measles hit the mission and killed over 100 Indians. On October 21, 1868 a earthquake destroys most of the mission buildings.
