To the Lads,
Thank you
From the Lad

Nat Love was born on June 1854 in Davidson Country, Tennessee.
He was born in his Master's, better known as Robert Love, log cabin. Surprisingly, his Master/Robert Love was kind and forgiving.
When the Civil War ended in 1865, Nat Love and his family had a feeling of control over their own destiny. For Nat, he craved this new feeling of independence.

After only one year of freedom, disaster struck. Nat Love's father, Sampson Love, fell ill and died. This left young Nat Love with the responsibility of providing for his family.

Unfortunately for Nat, this new responsibility went against his wanting to be independent. Now, his actions have consequences on his family.

Nat Love's neighbor, Mr. Williams had two sons. Nat would sneak out and break horses the Williams boys chose out for 10 cents. This was when Nat discovered his passion and skill for riding horses.

This passion made him think of becoming a cowboy and in 1869, he started going West to Dodge City, Kansas where his talent was valuable.

To become a cowboy, he had to tame the wildest horse of them all, Good Eye. After desperately trying to tame the horse, Good Eye finally calmed down.

At long last, Nat Love became a cowboy. Someone who didn't have to listen to anyone, true independence. Nat is now known as Red River Dick.

On July 3, Nat Love went to Deadwood City for a cowboy competition. Nat outperformed everyone there by a country mile. He then earned the nickname, Deadwood Dick.
