It was four years ago that I finally decided that I wanted to get a pet. I had never owned a pet by myself before, so I was nervous. 

I wanted a cat. But, I wanted a cat that needed a home. So I drove to the animal shelter to find the perfect cat for me.

Inside of the shelter, there were all kinds of cats! Brown cats, orange cats, cats with long hair, cats with short hair, and they all needed a home!

But one cat really stood out. He was small and grey with two big ears and short little legs. I immediately fell in love. It was time to take him home! 

When we got home, Ralph ran out of the carrier. He started zooming around the house excitedly. What happened to the shy little cat at the animal shelter? Were we going to get along?

Over the next couple of days we got to know each other a little better. He was sweet but he was also rotten. Ralph had a strange fascination with the trash and would try to eat it. 

That is truly disgusting.
