Many years ago in Israel, there was a huge temple that many people attended for worship

However outside of Isreal there was a king named anithcous he had ruled over syria. King Antiochus  was not a good man he would hurt others that didn't share the same beliefs as him. As a result King Antiochus had traveled around the world converting nations he had brought down and forcefully made them share beliefs.

Antiochus had conquered Israel and had made a promise to Jewish people that they would give up their beliefs and praise his God instead. He also wanted all temples belonging to the jewish faith to be destroyed.

Some jews did follow this new ruling, however many didn't this resulted in  the death of many jews as they were punished severely. One of the very courageous men that refused to obey this new order was Judah Maccabee.
