Jana was born and raised in Ramallah, Palestine. Growing up Muslim, she often went to the mosque, and prayed five prayers daily.

Whenever she came home from school, Jana's mom had lunch ready. Their meals consisted of fresh breads, meat and rice. For dessert, they ate fresh sweets with sugary syrup and cheese.

After lunch, Jana always goes outside to play soccer with her friends. Her parents always let her leave the house because the area they lived in was a friendly neighborhood.

Jana comes home one day to her parents both sitting on the dining table. A little worried, she goes up to them to see what is wrong. Her parents explain to her that it is time for them to move.

Moving across the world was a big change for Jana and her family. Jana was sad as she packed up all her things and said goodbye to her friends. She was also excited to move to a brand new place and make new friends.

Living in America was very different for Jana and her family. Jana realized that there were so many different people that lived there from different countries.

At school, people looked at Jana's clothes and food and made faces. She felt like an outsider, never being able to fit in with everyone else.

As weeks passed, Jana started to learn the culture better and started to eat American foods. She started to wear jeans and other clothes that her friend in school wore.
