The book title "Ye_Beiray DemeTS`e" is an Amharic expression loosely translated as "The Voice Of My Ink". The book is a collection of short Amharic poems and fictional stories that reflect the author's profound observations of the human experience. At times, her observations are articulated in colorful words woven in a "Wax and Gold style",
(In Abyssinian poetry, the “wax” is the obvious meaning, and the “gold” is the hidden meaning). Other times, her poetic expression represents that she is indeed a straight shooter from the heart. Each poem raises thought-provoking issues about humanity, culture, tradition, romance, love, compassion mismatched marriages, suffering, greed, war, and politics, as well as advocating for the irreplaceable-precious human lives that are lost due to ethnic conflict in Ethiopia—above all - holding the bystanders equally responsible for the ongoing human suffering in her homeland. (Elsi Abebe is also an author of  four children's books that are written in the English Language.)
