Brian was born without the use of his legs. Everything else about him...was just like all the other kids in 5th grade.

Each day, he would stare out the window of his house watching the other boys and girls play on the baseball field.

"Oh, how I wish I could be out there with the other boys and girls playing baseball," Brian would say.

"But no one wants to play baseball with a little boy in a wheelchair...How would I hit? How would I pitch? How would I catch the ball? I'll just stay inside." Brian told himself day after day.

Until one Spring day, Brian had enough. "That's it!" Brian said. "I've had enough!"

Brian wheeled down the ramp of his house...and rolled up to the other boys and girls playing on the baseball field. But he didn't say anything to anyone. He just sat and watched.

"Hey, Brian! Do you want to play?" one of the other kids shouted.

"I can't run, I can't hit, I can't pitch or catch." Brian said lowering his head.

"Do your wheels work?" one of the other kids asked. 

"Well, yes" Brian responded.

"They seem like they could go really fast."

"I guess they can."

"Well, come on out on the field, Brian!" All the kids exclaimed.

"I, I don't understand" Brian stammered.

"You can run the bases for us! Or even better, wheel the bases for us!" the kids shouted.

"That's a great idea!" So Brian wheeled out to home plate and waited for the batter to hit the ball.

SMACK! The ball flew into the air. "GO!" the kids shouted to Brian.
