There are many species [spee-sheez] of animals in the world that look completely different than their parents as offspring. These offspring are born with different traits, but they would eventually turn out to look like their parents.
Species: a group of living things that can mate with one another but not with those of other groups
Offspring: The child of a young particular living thing
Fluffy grey feathers
Flamingos
Baby flamingos are called flaminglet. Flaminglets look very different from their parents. They have fluffy grey-colored feathers compared to their parents have bright reddish-pink structured feathers. Flaminglet have black legs however, their parents have pink legs. Flaminglet have a greyish-white cloured beak while their parents have a larger more distinguished beak.
Light brown and fuzzy
Swans
Baby swans are also known as swanling, or cygnets [sig-nets]. Baby swans are light brown or yellow in color and fuzzy as opposed to their parents are white and appealing to the eye. Swanlings have black beaks, compared to their parents' bright orange beaks.

Tapirs
Baby tapirs are born covered in black, yellow, and white spots and stripes. These spots and stripes serve a purpose. They help camouflage the babies against predators during the first few months.
Camouflage: a way of hiding something by covering or coloring it so that it looks like its surroundings.

Frogs
Baby frogs are known as tadpoles. The main difference between tadpoles and frogs is that tadpoles live in water and frogs live on land and water. Tadpoles have short oval bodies with no external gills however, frogs have two bulging eyes, strong feet, and external gills. Tadpoles have long tails compared to frogs have very small tails.
