It was a typical Tuesday morning at the most popular pet store in town. The store had all sorts of animals to see and adopt, but everyone's favorite animal to visit was the cats.

Customers would always come to pet the cats, and sometimes even adopt them, but there was one cat at the pet store that had been there for months. 

While most of the cats in the pet store spent their time running, jumping, sleeping, and playing, one cat sadly slept in his cage every day. This cat was named Patrick. 

Patrick was a grey tabby cat. He had watched several cats and kittens come and go from the pet store. Though customers loved to pet Patrick, nobody ever wanted to take him home because he was so old. 

Patrick had given up on being adopted and spent most of his days sleeping. After watching all of his friends go to their forever homes, he felt defeated and thought that he would stay in the pet store forever. 

But today was different. Today, a special girl came in and asked the lady to adopt a cat.

I want to adopt a cat!

I will have an employee show you where our cats are! 

The girl saw many beautiful cats, but her favorite was the sleeping grey tabby. She started petting Patrick and he purred and purred.
