When I was a child I loved collecting bugs in my bug catcher, especially while camping. One day my mom asked me if I ever thought the bugs I were collecting were happy as they are leaving all of their friends behind and living in a smaller space. Looking back now I have realized that it was more about her teaching me empathy. Although, collecting the bugs and learning about them was fun, it is more important to not disrupt the insects and plants from their natural ecosystem. The goal of writing this story is to do the same for others that my mom did for me. Allow children to process the feeling of empathy while encouraging them to learn.
