Once upon a time there lived a young fearless couple, Theodora and Maximus. They fought for all those who could not. They fought battles with dragons and enemies, but most importantly they helped the sick and poor. They stood strong with anyone that needed them.

The young couple were barren and all they wanted was a child. One day after the couple had slayed a dragon in a battle, an emerald was spit out of the dragon’s mouth. The couple were confused but proceeded to take it. Soon after, the woman became pregnant. The couple immediately knew that the emerald was special and very valuable.

Caspian, they called the child. A beautiful hazel eyed, chubby cheeked baby. His smile could make anyone smile. Theodora and Maximus continued to fight but were much more cautious because of Caspian. As Caspian grew up, they quit their fighting and spent more time with Caspian.

One night, as the beautiful little family was sleeping, a strange man entered the home. The mother, Theodora, quickly placed the emerald into a string and tied it around the child’s neck. “The time will come my child, the time will come” she whispered into his ears. Theodora and Maximus disappeared into the night, leaving Caspian alone with nothing but an emerald.

Caspian grew up alone, no one to take care of him but himself. He learned how to survive in harsh conditions, turn his own frown upside down, and love himself. Caspian grew to be a gentle, soft, witty boy.

One day, Caspian was out in the market when he heard the news about the princess of the kingdom. Princess Meray was sick with a horrible disease. A prince who was not fit for her kissed her, which caused her to get very ill. The only way the princess could be healed is by eating an apple that comes from within the volcano. The quest to get there is like no other. Only the best of the best would be able to get that apple. Caspian knew what he had to do. He is the son of Theodora and Maximus, power is in his blood. Besides, saving a princess did not seem so bad. Maybe she’ll love him for saving her.

Caspian went home quickly and got his bag ready for the journey. Water, snacks, rope and a sword were quickly thrown into the bag. He took one look of himself in the mirror, his emerald shining around his neck, he smiled and thundered out of the door.

Caspian began his journey by going to the kingdom to pick up a map. Everyone gave him funny looks. “Are you sure you’re THE Theodora and Maximus’s son?” Everyone laughed. “Are you going to even reach the tree?” They all joked about his height. Caspian was short and skinny, but his courage was bigger than him. He ignored them, picked up his map, and ran off.
