Once upon a time, Japanese planes filled the sky of Peral Harbor in Oahu, Hawaii. The surprise attack on the U.S. naval base was about to begin.

Bombs and bullets crowed the air as they rained upon the naval base below the planes.

A 1,800-pound bomb was released and smashed through a battleship called the USS Arizona. This caused over 1,000 men to be trapped inside and sunk in the ship.

Torpedoes went through the battleship, USS Oklahoma. Having around 400 sailors, this ship lost balance and sunk into the water.

Four out of eight American battleships were sunk and all were damaged. The Japanese also sunk and destroyed 3 cruisers, 3 destroyers, an anti-aircraft training ship, and one minelayer.

More than 2,400 Americans died in the attack, and another 1,000 were wounded. Japan had destroyed about 20 American ships and 300 airplanes.

The strike on Pearl Harbor created an even worse relationship between the United States and Japan.

This attack by the Japanese was the main reason for the United States to enter the Second World War.
